Some universities are prepared to give foreign students, who have been offered graduate teaching assistantships or similar posts, a statement relating to the essential and integral nature of their employment as part of their studies in Canada. Students offered such assistantship by a university should enquire whether a statement of that kind can be provided.

Employment while studying
The local immigration office sanctions and issues authorisation for a specific job which is offered by a university on campus or outside. Employment office provides details of the job.

Scholarships
Students at the graduate level may qualify for assistantships (assisting professors in teaching and research) based on their academic abilities. Applications for this type of assistance are made through the university's financial aid office. Your local Canadian Education Center also carries information on scholarships.
