Eligibility: Candidates must have passed 10+2 Science examination (Higher Secondary Exam) from the Council of Higher Secondary Education, Orissa or any other exam equivalent thereto with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English. For candidates from states which do not conduct entrance test, 60% marks in aggregate in PCM and English in one sitting are necessary. However, for SC/ST candidates a mere pass is enough. All the candidates including SC/ST candidates must have passed the above examination by appearing at the papers of Physics, Chemistry, mathematics and English in one attempt (not compartmentaly)

Age: 17-25 years as on December 31 of the year of admission (for SC/ST 17-28 years). Physical fitness of the candidate is required.

Reservation: SC 8%, ST 12%, Green card holders 5%, Physically Handicapped 2 seats children of Defence and Para-Military Personnel 2 seats (30% of the seats in all categories are reserved for women candidates) 18 seats are reserved for foreign students.

Selection is made on the basis of a Joint Entrance Exam as per marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Maths in this Exam. JEE is conducted for Engineering Colleges and seats reserved or Orissa candidates in REC.

Hostel facilities are available for boys and girls separately. Residing in the hostel is compulsory.
