According to the US Government regulations, a foreign student is required to show proof prior to entry in the US that he can provide himself adequate funds for all his expenses while he will be in the US. If you intend to pay your own expenses, you should contact the RBI to obtain the foreign exchange permit for the amount you require for your education. The application process will cost approximately Rs. 25000 to Rs. 35000/- towards examination fees, postage photocopying, university application fee, and other costs tuition and living expense ranges from $11000 to $40000 per year. If you are financing your study through family funds or bank loans, you must be able to demonstrate that you /your sponsor have/has financial resources to support your entire period of study and stay in the US. You may consult the university catalogue for a more accurate estimate. These are available in the USEFI offices.

The cost of textbooks and supplies varies according to the student's field of study. Liberal arts students can expect to spend $200 to $350 a year for textbooks. Books and supplies for engineering students may cost $350 to $500 per year, and books for pharmacy students probably will exceed $500 per year.
