This course is designed to provide the students balanced education in various science and engineering chemical engineering and downstream processing. Due emphasis is given to biochemistry, microbiology, molecular biology and genetic engineering. The main objective of the programme is to equip the students with the capability of innovation, analysis, design and optical operation of the process in which biochemical catalysis has a fundamental and irreplaceable role.

This is a new programme which replaces and upgrades five year Integrated M.Sc in mathematics in Computer Applications. The objectives of the programme are to train students who can handle problems in government organizations and industries through the combined use of mathematical and computer techniques". The programme is to include the necessary knowledge of numerical and computer techniques, topics in computer science.

Mathematical modeling, simulation, probabilistic and statistical tools and giving them the capacity to develop their own computer software for several applications which they may come across in the above organizations. Some of the typical courses in the programme are Computer Architecture, DBMS, Programming languages theory of automata, parallel algorithms, optimization methods and applications, statistical methods and algorithms, neutral computing, fuzzy sets and applications, scientific visualization etc.

Scholarships: Eight scholarships are sponsored by the Industry. These are "silicon Graphics systems scholarship(Five)";"Lotus Development (UK) Corporation Scholarships(Two)" "DCM Data Systems Scholarships(One)". The scholarships are awarded exclusively on merit as determined by the CGPA of the students, semester wise in the IXth and Xth semester scholarships shall be awarded for ten months from the data of registration in the fifth year. The value of the scholarships is 2200(approximately) per month. More scholarships are likely to be sponsored by the industries.
