What is the role of the Screening Test? |

Screening Test is only to identify candidates for the Main Examination. Therefore, only those who qualify in the Screening
Test can appear in the Main Examination. |

What is the format of the Screening Test? |
 |
The Screening Test is of three hours duration and will contain only objective questions in Physics, Chemistry and
Mathematics. The weightage for each subject is equal. |

What is the role of the Main Examination? |
 |
Admissions to the various undergraduate programs at different Institutes would be based on performance in the Main
Examination only. |

What is the format of the Main Examination? |
 |
The Main Examination will contain three separate papers in Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics of two hours duration
each. |

Where do I send the completed application form? |
 |
Identify the controlling Institute for the first choice of the city where you wish to appear for the SCREENING TEST. Send
the completed application form to that Institute irrespective of the Institute from where you obtained the application form. For
example, if your first choice for Screening Test is at Hyderabad, you should send your application to Indian Institute of
Technology Madras, even if the form was obtained from IIT Delhi. To find the addresses of the IITs, click here. ALL
QUERIES REGARDING YOUR APPLICATION SHOULD BE ADDRESSED TO THE CHAIRMAN JEE OF THE
INSTITUTE WHERE YOU SENT THE APPLICATION FORM. |

How do I choose Examination Centres? |
 |
You can choose any city as the first and the second choice for Screening Test from the table of centres given in the
Brochure. Similarly the first and the second choice for the Main Examination may be made
independently of the Screening Test choices from the table. For example, one may choose Jhansi and Imphal as centres for the
Screening Test and Roorkee and Bhubaneshwar as centres for the Main Examination. Needless to say, the form in this example
should be sent to IIT Kanpur (Jhansi is in Kanpur zone). |

How do I find if my application form has reached the JEE office? |
 |
You should fill in the Acknowledgment Card and send it to the concerned JEE office along with the application form. This
would be sent back to you upon receipt of the application form. You can also contact the JEE office to enquire about the status
of your application form in case the acknowledgment card is lost in mail. |

What is the last date for receipt of application forms at the IITs? |
 |
The last date for receipt of completed application at any of the IITs is September 14, 1999. Any application received after
this date will not be accepted. The Institutes will not accept responsibility for delay, irregularity or loss in postal transit. |

Is there any reservation of seats for admissions through JEE? |
 |
Certain percentage of seats is reserved for candidates belonging to certain categories. |
