The GRE (Graduate Record Examination) General Test was designed by ETS in conjunction with many of the leading universities in the U.S. to provide them with a selection test for candidates applying for graduate programs. It is now a requirement for most graduate programs within the United States. Applicants might also be required to take one of the 14 GRE Subject Tests, which test knowledge in individual fields such as Economics or Psychology. Some graduate programs in Canada and the United Kingdom require the GRE General Test, but most universities outside of the United States do not require either the General or Subject Tests. As a rule, contact the university you are interested in directly to find out exactly what their requirements are regarding the GRE. |
