The General Test measures writing, verbal, quantitative, and analytical skills. The test is divided into three sections:
The Verbal section tests your ability to analyze written material and synthesize information taken from it, as well as recognize relationships between concepts and words. The Quantitative section tests your basic math skills, as well as your ability to reason and solve problems quantitatively. The Analytical section measures your ability to analyze, evaluate, and identify arguments. The components tested in the Verbal are normally selected from areas of academic interest such as the sciences, social studies, and the humanities. The content areas included in the Quantitative section of the test are arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and data analysis- areas usually covered in high school. The Analytical section measures reasoning skill, and no training in logic or methods of analysis is required to do well in this section. |
